Laura & Dan - Wedding at Kilminorth Cottages, Looe, Cornwall
The last time I had seen Laura & Dan before their wedding had been back in March when I went to Kilminorth to have a chat and talk about their plans for their weekend of celebrations. It was a tad different then, as it was the day that is started snowing. Luckily enough their wedding weekend was the complete opposite and one of the hottest days of the year. It was the perfect summer marquee wedding, filled with fun and laughter, avengers, hay bales, splat the rat and some pretty epic dance moves too.
Louise & Gary - Wedding at The Guildhall & Hannafore Point Hotel, Looe, Cornwall
Photographing a wedding in my now home town of Looe is just a little special. Louise & Gary and many of their friends and family travelled all the way down to Cornwall from Hertfordshire to get married here so that her father could walk her down the aisle. Being witness to and capturing such love between people (not just the bride & the groom) is something that we photographers cherish. It was a delight to be able to take them to so many different places on their day to see the best of what our town has to offer.
Sally & Harrison - Humanist Ceremony at Tredudwell Manor, Cornwall
In May, I was back at Tredudwell Manor to photograph Sally and Harrison's humanist ceremony held out on the stunning tiered lawns in front of the Manor house which its views down towards the South Cornwall coastline. After dinner we took a trip down to the coast to see the breathtaking views and to catch the last of the evening light before heading back to Tredudwell. Sam & David - Wedding at The Green, Cornwall
I was back at The Green in April to photograph Samantha & David as they got married down at the lake arbour. This wedding was extra special for me as we were joined by their absolutely stunning Blue Roan cocker spaniel Woody. He was such a mummy's boy and great fun to have around. I love people having their pets at weddings. Claire & Ivor - Wedding at The Old Quay House, Fowey, Cornwall
In April, I photographed my first wedding at The Old Quay House Hotel in Fowey and can't wait to go back again in 2019. What an amazing venue. Claire & Ivor chose to get married in the Penthouse suite which has incredible elevated views across the river Fowey towards Bodinnick & Polruan. Spring was in full force and we were treated to the most incredible light as we took a stroll around the streets and quayside together for a bit of calm before their family meal back at the hotel overlooking the terrace and river. Here is a link to Claire & Ivor's images as a featured gallery Lilly & Sean - Wedding at The Green, Cornwall
Back in March, Lilly & Sean travelled to Cornwall with their family for a wonderfully intimate wedding at The Green. They love the outdoors, thankfully as we had the most amazing torrential rain, but that didn't stop us going out to enjoy the stunning grounds, and besides it gave us the opportunity to go puddle jumping. Thank you both for such an amazing day.
Thank you
I just wanted to thank all of my couples from 2016 & 2017 that voted for me in the South West Wedding Awards. No tropies this year, but I made it to the final stage in the Bespoke Photography Category based on all of your amazing feedback which I have just received. I am in tears and I couldn't be happier - here are just a few of the wonderful comments you made. I seriously can't thank you enough.
Polly produced some beautiful pictures in difficult conditions. We got married in Polhawn Fort at night lit only with candles. I asked for no flash to be used and very few posed photos to be taken. The pictures were beautiful and captured the happiness and love felt by everyone on the day. Polly also added a very human touch with her interaction with the guests who all commentated on how she made them all feel relaxed and even had two budding photographers following her around all day which she looked after brilliantly (my two 8 year old god children). Polly also noticed I was having a bit of a moment just after we met with the registrars and she slowed the process down and took us away for 5mins, which I am eternally grateful for; it meant I was relaxed when I walked down the aisle. Polly gave us great advice from the first day we met her and we immediately felt a connection with her. She became an integral part of our day and not "just our photographer". We believe she would be a worthy winner of this award.
Polly was absolutely fantastic in the build up to our wedding, from being flexible on our meet ups (we were planning most of our details remotely!), to offering to pick up our pasties on the morning! Polly delivered everything that we'd asked of her, and so much more. The images of our day are perfect snapshots of the emotions involved, and she captured some very special shots for us and our guests. A number of guests commented that they have assumed Polly was an old friend of ours (we'd only met in person twice!), as we were so comfortable with her - and she slotted in amongst our guests with ease. Polly is both a calming and fun influence on what can at times be a fairly stressful day - we are so glad that we found her.
Polly exceeded our expectations as our wedding photographer. We booked online and had fantastic communication with polly from the beginning, she provided a package just as we wanted. On our wedding day Polly was fantastic!! More like a best friend! She did everything she could to make sure we were happy and made me feel so at ease, this can be seen in our photos as we look so relaxed! Polly was so much more than a photographer!! (Even our witness!! As we had an intimate wedding) sooo kind!! Our photos are outstanding and will be cherished for a lifetime, they made us shed a tear!! We received them before the estimated time and again received upto date communication regarding this, couldn't have asked for better service. Polly is fantastic at her job and her skills are outstanding! Polly deserves this award and more!!
Polly is an excellent communicator which helped a lot during the planning stages of our wedding, and being able to meet up with her in person a few months before the wedding really helped us as it was so clear that our personalities matched and we felt so at ease with her. She is really professional and detailed in her planning, which means that on the day, you can relax as she knows exactly who you want captured in those all important group shots. Her energy and enthusiasm on the day was infectious, and so many of our family and friends who usually claim to 'hate being photographed' just relaxed around her, and we ended up with some lovely pictures of everyone! We are absolutely delighted when we received the photos from her! They really capture the magic of the day, and the feeling of joy, love and fun that we had felt while surrounded by our family and friends. They are a fantastic record of our special day, and the compliments came flooding in from our guests when they saw them!
Polly was an integral part of the success of our wedding day. She improvised constantly and brilliantly, charmed all of our guests (even the obnoxious ones), and most importantly - she delivered stunning photographs that captured the essence of the occasion, made the most of the dramatic Cornish weather, and showed everyone in their very best light. Thank you Polly - you were utterly marvellous.
We chose Polly because of the beautiful pictures she took of previous weddings. Much superior quality to others we looked at. The pictures she produced for our wedding were amazing. On the day she was absolutely brilliant, the day went really smoothly because of how organised she is. She was really good with the guests too, they all commented on how great Polly was, such a perfect personality for a wedding photographer. In the run up to the wedding, Polly was absolutely amazing, she gave us lots of tips and advice about the day, so professional and friendly.
We can't speak highly enough of Polly, from the first meeting we knew we had chosen the best person to photograph our very personal wedding. She just got us, and what we wanted from the day. She provided support throughout the whole process and we were so pleased to have her share our special day with us. Polly perfectly captured the essence of the day and the venue on film, even with a difficult brief. It was everything we asked for and more, and superb value for money. Thanks Polly for memories that will last a lifetime.
Polly captured our day perfectly. As a couple we tend to avoid getting too close to camera lenses but Polly kept the day really relaxed and informal for us which suited us and our guests perfectly. She knew the venue and area well, met with us before the day to plan, and was completely flexible. We were over the moon with the photos when they came back, some really beautiful images captured so well. Photography skills aside, Polly is a genuinely lovely person, super-friendly and perfect to put a camera-shy couple at ease! Thanks Polly 2017
It is at this time of year that many of us reflect on the year that is ending as we prepare to start a new.
I am so very grateful for the opportunities, experiences & friendships that have come my way this year, and wish to thank all the couples, families and businesses that I have had a the pleasure of working with and to wish them the most amazing 2018. I am so excited about all the new adventures that 2018 is already promising. Dance with Jodie - Winter Show - Dance Photography Cornwall I have been photographing Jodie's dance show for a few years now, and this time I was given back stage access to capture all the excitement and nerves during preparation. I am still in awe of what an amazing performance these little ones put on each time & how they can remember so many different routines.
South West Wedding Awards Finalist 2018
Well this has to be the biggest surpise of the year. I certainly wasn't expecting to make it to the finals of the South West Wedding Awards in the Bespoke Wedding Photography Category. I am so pleased to have reached this stage as it is judged on what my couples think. Thank you to all of you that voted for me and I wish all the other finalists well.
NineDots
As with most things there are positives and negatives. Being self-employed and working a lot of the time on you own (despite being surrounded often by hundreds of people) can sometimes take its toll, as I am sure many of you would agree. This year I finally managed to make it to NineDots Gathering - a 3 day Wedding Photography Conference held at Bounce Ping Pong Club in London. It was amazing to be surrounded by so many like minded others and fill my head with wonderful ideas. Thanks to the NineDots Community, I now also have the office banter I have been missing all these years. Can't wait til 2018! Naomi & Jeremy - Wedding at St Cuby & The Plough, Duloe These two are just adorable. Childhood sweethearts reunited after each of them being previously married. Such a wonderful couple that just can't do enough for others and each other, and are clearly adored by their friends and family. That was an emotional day and one that I am so proud to have been able to capture for them. Just look at that cake!
Ann & Michael - Wedding at The Green, Cornwall Ann & Michael, enjoying a moment in the late summer sunshine here in Cornwall. A distant memory now, but what an amazing day they had for their very low key wedding at The Green, Cornwall. They were joined by just two guests and their little westie called Hamish as they exchanged their vows at the lakeside arbour before taking a walk around the grounds. A perfect day.
Fran & Sam - Wedding at Fowey Church & Fowey Hotel Fran & Sam just moments after leaving Fowey Parish Church and walking though the busy streets of holiday makers on their way to The Fowey Hotel. Never a dull moment with these two. Click here for their wedding hightlights gallery
Maddie & Adam - Wedding at Mylor Church, Castaways & Restronguet Barton Not only were Maddie & Adam smiling as they had just go married, but it was this lucky couple that were emigrating to Australia just 4 days after their wedding, so regardless of a what felt like a month worth of rain falling on the morning of their wedding, their minds were well and truly focused on much sunnier thoughts. Katie & Jake - Wedding at Kilminorth Cottages The beautiful Katie & Jake held the British leg of their wedding tour here in Cornwall and I was so lucky to have been asked to share it with them. Still laughing about just how much rain fell out of the sky that day; roads were impassable and it was dark nearly all of the day - what wierd weather 2017 is giving us. But despite all of this, they had the most amazing day full of laughter and love - Just how it should be. We did manage to take a quick walk for them to have some time alone and here is one of my favourites.
Jess & Jack - Wedding at Burnicombe Farm, Devon I met Jess & Jack at Georgie & Chris' wedding back in the spring. A few weeks later, I got a call from Jack asking if I was free in August (two months later) to shoot their wedding as they had decided to bring it forward a whole year!! They exchanged their vows under Willow Arbour (the only living arbour in the UK) and partied the night way surrounded by more cake then I have every seen in once place! Another fantastic couple with the added bonus of knowing at least two of their guests.
Emma & Dan - Day in the Life of Family Session
I photographed Emma & Dan's wedding day a few years back and was absolutely over the moon when they asked me to photograph the newest addition to their family. We spent the morning together, drinking coffee, changing nappies & feeding & cuddling baby Vincent, so that I could provide them with a day in the life of documentary approach to moments in the early stages of parenthood that just don't seem like reality due to extreme sleep deprivation. We all wish for it to end at the time, but then wish for those precious moments back. Take a look at my lifestyle & portraits gallery for more examples of my family portraits
Eli & Vin - Family portraits at Talland Beach
Life is super busy for most people, which makes family holidays all the more special. Eli & Vin contacted me to say that they travelling down to Cornwall for a holiday from Essex and would love to have some family portraits taken as they never seem to get the chance at home. Its sad, but true for so many. I am delighted that they contacted me and I was able to spend a wonderful morning with them in the woods and on the beach. Have a look at my lifestyle & portraits gallery for more examples
Sam & Joe - Wedding at Trenderway Farm, Cornwall Sam & Joe might have to win the most relaxed couple of the year award. Effortless is another word that springs to mind. Their wedding was at the delightful Trenderway Cottages and they exchanged their vows on the decking of Meadow Barn overlooking the meadow and down to the lake. Happy memories of warm sunshine, lots of colour and laughter too. Thank you for choosing me to document it all for you. Here is a link to their wedding highlights
Cornish Scenery - Downderry
Just a few photos taken in between jobs this summer at the lovely beach village that is Downderry. I am so lucky to have placed like this to take a break. Though it would be nice to share them with you
Georgie & Chris - Wedding at The Green, Cornwall This has to be one of my favourite images of this year. I took a walk with Georgie & Chris shortly before their wedding breakfast, and there was non-stop laughter and smiles between them and also by me as their love and humour was just infectious. But it was at this moment that they stopped laughing for a very short moment - oh the chemistry! Click here for their wedding hightlights gallery
